Weighted Straw

When looking at this cup, you will see a round colored object attached to the bottom of the straw. This is the way your toddler can drink from the cup at angle. Even titled up like when they drink from a bottle.

This function of this cup makes it much easier for toddlers to drink from because their first instinct is to tilt a cup up. If they do this with a regular straw cup, the result is obvious.

Flexibility of the Straw

The straw itself is made of a soft silicone, so no hard edges against your toddlers mouth (or gums) if teeth are still making their way through.

Leak Proof Valve

Toward the upper half of the straw there is a leak proof valve on the inside. When your child drinks from these cups, the valve gets opened by the pressure from their mouth.

  • Pro:
    • Gentles on mouth and gums

    • Decrease spills

Munchkin Click Lock Weighted Straw Cup Leaking

Many people have written about this cup leaking. And I will attest to that.

I have found that when cold fluids are in this cup, something happens in terms of pressure against the valve. And the liquid from the cup will just come right up the straw and leak all over.

We then started to only use this cup for room temperature or warm liquids. This has stopped the occurrence of leaking.

The leaking is enough of a nuisance however, and we have been trying to get our toddler to use another cup. She sternly has been refusing. I guess that is a pro for this cup. Toddlers like it!

Overall Rating of Munchkin Weighted Straw Cup

munchkin weighted straw cup rating

3 out of 5 stars

The Munchkin Weighted straw cup is a great transition cup. Its weighted straw makes it so easy for your toddler to learn to drink from. Using cold liquids in the cup does not really work due to it leaking from the straw. But for room temperature and warm liquids, this cup works well.
