Have you heard of this amazing thing called baby wearing? If you are a new mom or mom-to-be, you need to get to know it.
Benefits of Baby Wearing
Babies spend 9 months (give or take) in a warm, snuggly place in our womb being gently rocked with our movements. Coming out into the world is shocking!
Hello environment!! Lights. Temperature changes. Having to only lay flat on their backs.
It is rough for a newborn baby to be thrown into that kind of change. That is why babies always sleep so well while being held.
But, I get it. Our arms would break off if we tried to carry our babies 24-7. And also, we kind of need our arms to do things like eat, wash the dishes, etc. Easy solution…

The different types of baby carriers
There are several different types of baby carriers, some are more structured backpacks, while others are cloth wraps. You may need to explore your options before deciding which is right for you.
Think about when you are most likely to use the carrier. Are you in need of something that is for the long haul? Then a back pack type may suit you better.
But if you want something that has a dual role because you are a breastfeeding mama, then you may opt for a wrap carrier. There is nothing wrong with having both kinds (I do!).
If you are looking for a durable backpack carrier that will grow with your child, I highly recommend this option.
- Holds infants 8-32 pounds
- 4 ways to carry baby: facing in narrow seat for newborns, facing in wide seat for older babies, facing out narrow seat for babies with head control, and back carry wide seat for older babies and toddlers.
- Includes a wonder cover 2-in-1 bib to protect carrier and clothes
- Machine washable
- Adjustable seat, leg openings, straps and waist belt for a customized fit to your baby and you!
This carrier is one of the best priced carriers I came across as well. Some carriers can really get up there in price, and that is not what I was looking for.
We used this carrier when my baby would not sleep to save my life. Just put her in it, strap her on, and more often than not she would fall asleep.
Before I started using this carrier, I realized how much I was straining my back muscles from the amount I was needing to hold my baby. Putting her in this carrier really saved my back.
One of the best parts of this carrier is that is so easy to adjust the waist band and shoulder straps. That way my husband and I can both use this carrier. Other products I have seen have different sizes you need to buy for different sized people. Not practical! This is your all-in-one carrier!
Oh I love my CuddleBug Carrier! And just as the name implies you literally get to cuddle your baby without the strain of carrying them in your arms all the time.
This is a wrap carrier ideal for newborns and younger infants. Not ideal for toddlers in my opinion. The design of the carrier is best for close-contact, inward-facing infants.
It cannot be worn as a backpack carrier.
This type of close contact is so soothing for your infant, after all, that is all they have known thus far in their lives.
Wrap carriers are also ideal for the breastfeeding mom. It promotes bonding and can also be used to nurse baby. Once your baby is a little bigger, the wrap can be used as a nursing cover as well.
It is made of french terry cotton and spandex. Super soft and completely machine washable.
Baby wearing is the ultimate way to carry your baby and still get things done. Decide which option is best for you.
Backpack carriers like the Infantino 4-in-1 will last you quite a while as your baby grows. Or the wrap style of the CuddleBug for close contact snuggling with your infant.
Both are great options and I love them each for their own reasons.
Now get baby wearing!
